 In this role, you will be responsible for the management of all open workers’ compensation files in your designated market. This position will require financial coordination with carriers, our reinsuring entity and internal stakeholders. You will provide direct oversight of the Third Party Claim Adminstrator, review reserve and settlement recommendations for appropriateness, provide financial concurrences up to a predetermined threshold, participate in roundtables, and facilitate internal communications for large exposure claims.  You will be accountable for the identification of adverse trends within your market and solutions related to vendor expense management issues, and be held to set metrics for your jurisdictions associated with claim administration performance. You will address any coverage related issues and work with the carrier/administrator to resolve. In addition, you will make sure subrogation and Second Injury Fund recoveries are maximized. Medicare’s interests are to be protected on all settlements by approving annuity and professional administration options in addition to reversionary language. This position ensures all workers compensation losses are handled in accordance with applicable state laws. You will validate any errors and omissions and pursue recovery if appropriate.  You provide leadership in your market to educate clients on the value of loss mitigation through early claim reporting, utilization of medical networks and fraud prevention.  In this position, you are responsible for the financial performance of your market and you will indirectly supervisor one Lead Examiner. This role requires collaboration with other Claims Manager’s to determine best practices for the program and to deliver the best possible WC claim model for the organization.

Everyday your focus could drastically change as there will be special projects, claim reviews, client and internal partner needs.  Your primary goals include direct oversight over your market’s claims,  client service to both internal and external partners, consultation and providing TPA oversight for multiple jurisdictions to ensure every claim is being handled professionally and in the best interest of ADP and our clients.  Each day will be different because the questions you receive will vary, as will the solutions you provide each client and internal partner. There will be no shortage of new situations that you will encounter, which will keep things interesting.  Our comprehensive training will help to set you up for success!

To thrive in this role, you need to have a way with clients and vendors that builds rapport, establishes trust, and shines with professionalism.  You need a strong knowledge base over the jurisdictions in your market in order to provide the necessary oversight on large exposure claims and to question recommendations from the administrator. Over the phone and in writing, your communication style needs to be highly professional, and clear and easy for our clients to understand and take action as needed.  Your sense of urgency needs to be second to none. What you’ll do:

What you can expect on a typical day:

In this position, you will review and oversee the claim administrator performance and contractual compliance within your market. You will be responsible for evaluating reserves and settlement recommendations. You will work with our broker, and participate in meetings with Risk leadership and the Third-Party Adminstrator. There will be accountability for Return to Work efforts, financial oversight, Safety Activation initiatives, and documentation of claim activity according to stated claim procedures and best practices.  You will work directly with other TotalSource departments including the Market GM, Key Account Executive, Client Retention Executive, HRBP, Risk Consultants, Leave Administration, and internal legal to assist with the resolution of client issues directly related to WC Claims and deliver service in support of our client retention goals. You will act as a client advocate on all escalated workers’ compensation matters and the liaison between the client and the  WC Third Party Administrator. You are also the intermediary between our internal ADPTS partners and the  Claim Administrator staff.  You will be responsible for positive NPS results and will acknowledge all client feedback. You will be held to metrics in your designated jurisdictions and will utilize our new Origami system to communicate results in your market, analyze client/claim data, and make recommendations.  You will work directly with the Claims Director to determine appropriate workloads and the necessity of procedure changes within the Risk-WC Claims Unit. Your participation in claim reviews of the Workers' Compensation Claim Administrator will be necessary to ensure quality compliance of service requirements and client satisfaction in claims handling. 

You will help our clients manage their workers’ compensation program using our technology solutions, which could include troubleshooting, investigating and probing to resolve any service issues. Support might also involve partnering with multiple business units, teams and vendors for troubleshooting and delivering a seamless client experience to impact retention.

You will continually upgrade your knowledge and skills on legal, jurisdictional, technological, compliance, standard operating procedure, administrative practices, and desktop support tools to develop and maintain your ability to support our clients. You will attend professional development courses and seminars in your assigned jurisdiction as needed along with in person claim reviews. 


  • Preferred qualification of 5 years or more Workers’ Compensation supervisory experience and/or

5 years or more experience in Workers’ Compensation Risk Management

  • Prior PEO knowledge a plus
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Workers’ Compensation laws for assigned geographical areas is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
