SUMMARY: Fills customer orders, pulls material from racks, unloads incoming material, loads trucks and/or customer vehicles, & helps maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-include the following, other duties may be assigned

Reads customer work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be pulled.

Inspects material to for size, width, length, etc...

Prints out shipping tag with all necessary information (tag number, P.O., heat number), pulls order, loads directly on truck or holding bay. This material must be marked and/or tagged.

Conveys material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane.

Sorts and places material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.

Opens crates and other containers; marks material with identifying information.

Counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company        standards.

Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.

Follows Corporate and Division safety guidelines by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.

Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Spot checks on inventory, daily and checks for proper tagging of material.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS- an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully and satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: No prior experience or training necessary.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and read in English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

 

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read tape measure, caliper, and micrometer.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional instruction.

 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

 

 EQUIPMENT SKILLS: This position requires satisfactory completion of the forklift, side loader, and crane training program.

 

 WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outdoor weather conditions and is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
