About the Position

The Visual Designer is responsible for design and production of internal and external communications, with guidance from the Senior Visual Designer, while keeping Credit Union principles and member needs top of mind. This position develops and establishes the Credit Union brand and influences how we are seen in the market. The Visual Designer contributes creative and conceptual input for marketing initiatives, provides visual design support to departments throughout the organization and executes design solutions for both digital and print channels. The Visual Designer assists members and prospects in understanding and using Credit Union principles, products and services through relevant and effective design solutions.

Normal Day-to-Day Work
  1. Develop effective visual design for various external and internal communications with a bias towards digital channels such as email, web and social. Designs responsive templates for web pages and email campaigns to update in content management software. Creates print designs for use in ads, promotions, direct mail, brochures, conference materials and other assets.
  2. Develop creative concepts, independently or in conjunction with the Senior Visual Designer, the marketing team or other departments to support the marketing plan and goals. Promote the Credit Union's products and services through relevant design solutions.
  3. Maintain updates to existing collateral materials and other assets by periodically reviewing and making all necessary improvements and changes.
  4. Keep all electronic and printed files organized and accessible to other team members, as well as preserves a clear archival system.
  5. Conduct thorough research to offer multiple approaches and conceptual ideas for the goal. Ensure ideas are high quality, relevant, intentional and cost-effective.
  6. Conduct field visits to take photos/videos. Organizes files and manages photographic archives. Act as a brand ambassador for the organization in all member interaction and communication.
  7. Maintain an ongoing education in the credit union environment, as well as the design and communications industry. Stay abreast of new technologies and current design trends.
  8. Ensure distribution of marketing materials to staff and external sources as required in a timely and effective manner. Communicate marketing promotions to all employees.

Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
  1. Minimum of 4 to 6 years of general design experience.
  2. Proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat) also knowledge in Adobe XD or Sketch. Along with PC platforms and software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook).
  3. Previous desktop publishing and graphic design experience with demonstrated design and layout skills for print and electronic media, including web design and content management software.
  4. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  5. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  6. Travel required on occasion.

Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to make you more suited for this position.
  1. BA/BS degree in Marketing, Visual Arts, Graphic Design or related field.
  2. Professional experience in a financial institution, inhouse marketing and/or ad agency.
  3. Familiar with responsive web design, motion graphics and photography.
  4. Knowledge in content management software such as MailChimp and/or Active Campaign, Drupal and/or WordPress.
  5. Strong service orientation skills.
