Job Summary | The DeVries Lab in the Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky, seeks a highly motivated, independent undergraduate student to assist with laboratory research in the areas of urban pest management and human health. The successful applicant should be interested in biology and willing to learn new techniques. No specific skills are required, but applicants should be comfortable working with urban insects (especially cockroaches and bed bugs) in the lab and possibly being exposed to public housing for urban pest monitoring, sample collection, and pest control. Training will be provided in the following techniques: urban pest rearing and handling, insecticides toxicity evaluation, insect behavioral assays using video tracking, and others. In addition, opportunities will be available for independent research in areas related to work ongoing in the lab. |
