POSITION SUMMARY
-
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as they evolve.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Licenses and Certifications Required
-
ARRT(S) or ARDMS registered or registry eligible (required within 2 years when NDMIRTBE license is conditional)
-
NDMIRTBE license or NDMIRTBE Conditional license
-
Current American Heart Association Healthcare provider BLS required within 30 days of hire
-

Educational Requirements
-
RDMS (AB and/or OB/GYN), or ARRT(s) Registered Technologist (required within 2 years when NDMIRTBE license is conditional)
-
RVT optional
-
Will be cross trained into vascular ultrasound if no formal vascular education has been completed
-

Experience Requirements

Experience preferred, but not required

Special Skills or Training Requirements
-
Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is preferred
-
Utilizes tele-radiology equipment as needed
-
Utilizes hospital information system and radiology information system as required for charges and proper patient status
-
Performs Ultrasound studies by independently scanning patient part as ordered
-
Provides Radiologist with technologist interpretation
