Transactional Services Manager - Hydro

Role Summary:The Hydro Transactional Services Manager is at the crossroad of technical awareness, business modelling with a strategic and commercial skillset. They will lead the effort and development of a new Business Model towards Services for hydropower plants in the nominated Region.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Co-develop with ANZ utilities and independent power producers a new business/financial model towards outsourced models based upon GE Contractual Services Agreements (CSA), and position GE to seize such opportunities

+ Use start-up mindset and FastWorks approach to co-design, prove, test and sell the model

+ Understand customers OPEX approach, i.e. buying criteria and value drivers (make or buy philosophy, customer concern to shift towards CSA), O&M timing and programs

+ Obtain information on hydro power plant assets & setup for the designated areas such as hydro turbine & generator technologies, existing DCS, governing, excitation and other mechanical & electrical Balance of Plant systems including customer purchasing plans and Maintenance budget.

+ Have a clear understanding of power plant outage schedule.

+ Actively visit customers plants when appropriate/necessary, participate in customer meetings and collect customers needs and provide outcomes

+ Ensure Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM) accuracy

+ Identify supplier needs and coordinate with Service Buyers for new supplier qualification

+ The Service agreement Manager is further expected spend a portion (min. 25%) of her/his time to delivering timely / accurate responses to customer commercial & technical inquiries including proposal and execution (for transactional opportunities) leveraging GE Hydro Sales and Commercial Operations, Engineering (Fleet reliability Operations, Installed Base Center of Excellence)

+ Supporting when not leading the execution (incl. site activities and project reviews with customers) with respect to EHS, time, quality, cost commitment and drive variation orders in cooperation with engineering, supply chain and site teams. Run the project financials (sales milestones and cash, risk & opportunities) for some transactional activities


+ Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or linked Engineering field and/or in Marketing/Strategy from an accredited university or college

+ Minimum of 8 years in Hydropower industry, greenfield and/or services business

+ Minimum of 3 years in Product Management, Marketing, Strategy or Business Development

+ Commercial acumen with technical awareness, strong knowledge and relationship with local customers

+ Ability and willingness to travel more than 30% of the time

Desired Characteristics:

+ Entrepreneur/Start-up mindset

+ Solid technical competency in hydropower technology,

+ Good communication skills with a willingness to challenge others

+ Solid organization and multi-task capability in a dynamic environment.

+ Power Generation, Renewable Energy and Hydro experience

+ Local experience in the ANZ region is a strong plus

+ Expertise in proposal preparation and presentation

+ Strong, self-directed, collaborative team player with interpersonal skills

+ Strong knowledge of / experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ French & English fluency
