Job Summary

The Institute for Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy (IPOP) center within the College of Pharmacy is seeking a Technical Project Specialist Ill. This position is the project manager for the Medicaid grant and located in Frankfort, Kentucky at the Cabinet for Health and Family Services building.

This grant-funded position is the gatekeeper of Medicaid projects, team leader, and primary correspondent with stakeholders.

The person in this position ensures well thought out “use case” descriptions of all projects and makes sure they are tracked along the established quality control continuum with weekly updates to team members.

Will be aware of all project deadlines and help, if needed, with moving projects to completion through an understanding of barriers and ongoing dialog with team leadership when project deadlines are in jeopardy.

Monitor all outstanding/requested data sharing agreements and provide timely updates to team leadership.

Coordinate and ensure all project status meetings (e.g., Monday meetings with Department of Medicaid Services and larger group) start / end on time; prepare agendas with prior team leadership approval; set up meeting tools/rooms in advance, when at all possible; confirm project leaders are available to discuss their projects during the meeting; distribute cancellation/change/move notices if necessary; document meeting notes; and follow up on meeting to-dos.

The employee must exercise sound judgement with stakeholders through timeliness of responses, sensitivity to confidential information, and accurate correspondence with cabinet leadership. Able to articulate the department’s values and goals through a demonstration of an understanding of projects and use cases.

Must have good time management skills and demonstrate appropriate “conversational” judgement with team members and key stakeholders (e.g., knows when to listen, talk, react, add points of value, etc).

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Microsoft Project or other PM tool experience. IT project management, leadership, software development.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree plus six or more years of project management experience is preferred.
Project Management Certification preferred.
