Brief Job Overview/Summary
Stockton University in New Jersey seeks applications for a full-time Non-Tenure Track Teaching faculty member in Mathematics and First-Year Studies. This position begins September 1, 2023 and is on a renewable annual or multi-year contract. The successful candidate will join core faculty housed in the School of General Studies in teaching first year mathematics courses as part of the innovative, University-wide First-Year Studies program.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Dean of General Studies, the responsibilities for Teaching Specialist, Mathematics and First Year Studies (NTTP) include:
- Offer courses in FRST mathematics such as Quantitative Reasoning, Algebraic Problem Solving, and other courses in the interdisciplinary General Studies curriculum
- Teach four courses per semester
- Serve as a preceptor (advisor) to students, as necessary
- Provide service to the University, community and profession
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Dean of General Studies and/or the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Support Stockton University's diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in relevant discipline (e.g., mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, etc.)
- Relevant experience teaching introductory algebra, introductory statistics, and/or numerical reasoning to first year college students or similar populations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching first-year, college-level mathematics courses in quantitative reasoning with an emphasis on real-world applications
- Experience working with diverse populations and/or interest in anti-racist/social justice-oriented pedagogy.
