Administrative Analyst/ Specialist I

Undergraduate Studies


Salary Range: $3,897 - $7,051/Monthly


Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification; temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire; may be extended, may become permanent.


Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Student Success and Advising, the incumbent supports the University’s graduation initiative/project called “Plan to Soar” in its core areas of operation: data analysis and interpretation; advising campaign development; initiative/project evaluation and reporting; and advisor training. The incumbent’s primary responsibilities include: analyzing student success data at the University, college, and program levels to identify student populations that would benefit from advising interventions aimed at promoting student success and increasing timely graduation; providing recommendations to the Executive Director, Student Success and Advising to inform the development and implementation of advising campaigns; developing, preparing, and presenting materials to communicate to an audience of collaborators and stakeholders the development process and implementation strategy underpinning each advising campaign; designing advising campaigns with respect to their efficacy in promoting student success and increasing timely graduation; providing operational, analytical, and training support to the Executive Director and the advisement teams; and serves as a secondary contact and expert for “Plan to Soar”.


Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Two years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, practices, or programs. Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; and excellent interpersonal skills. The incumbent must have the ability to: understand, interpret, and communicate information and ideas both in writing and orally; work independently with general instructions; effectively use all communication methods and formats, including fluency in using standard office software packages, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; perform standard arithmetic functions; analyze, interpret and integrate complex data and information; proactively exercise ingenuity to adapt guidelines and procedures to meet evolving needs of the initiative/project; learn, interpret, and apply a variety of complex University policies and procedures as they pertain to students’ degree progress; analyze and address problems using reasoning; interpret and apply theories and principles to develop and recommend practical, thorough, and creative solution to support student success; and communicate and partner with the initiative/project’s team as well as campus and community stakeholders. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/ multiethnic working environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications:Experience working in higher education and with students; and demonstrated experience in research or special study. Knowledge of applicable University infrastructure, policies, and procedures related to undergraduate degrees/students’ degree progress; and familiarity with advising platforms and strategies.
