Job Summary

You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington business and is not affiliated with the university.

The Personal Care Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides nursing and nursing related services to residents consistent with each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care.
  • Maintains a homelike environment for the residents, protects and promotes residents rights, and assists the person to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.
  • Provides direct care to residents to improve or maintain the residents abilities according to the residents plan of care, seeks assistance of the nurse when unsure of assignment, procedure, or situation.
  • Assists in activities of daily living (ADL’s) including bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, transferring, and feeding of assigned residents by providing set-up assistance, verbal prompts, and physical support.

Skills and Abilities
Include but not limited to:

  • Ability to recognize changes in the residents conditions.
  • Ability to coordinate numerous activities at any given time and make rational, sound judgements and judicious decision quickly, often under pressure.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence, etc.
