Job Summary | The UK PATHways Prenatal program is especially designed to bring multispecialty services to pregnant women who require assistance with opioid use and other substance use disorders. Our goal is to provide an effective, transdisciplinary team to focus on each patient in a non-judgmental, non-stigmatizing environment. Through a PCORI grant, we will be conducting a three year research study, that expands elements of the PATHways program into Eastern Kentucky clinical sites. Under the direction of clinical staff, the Peer Support Specialist will mentor perinatal women enrolled in prenatal clinics and receiving substance abuse treatment. Needs to demonstrate understanding of peers’ experiences and feelings. Relates their own recovery stories to inspire hope, courage and strength. Travel to remote clinical sites in eastern Kentucky and travel to University of Kentucky’s main campus, along with phone and multi-media communication with patients is required. |
