**Job Description Summary**

The Steam Power Operational Controller (Operational Controller) is pivotal to the business in ensuring accuracy in accounting records, adherence to GE policies and compliance with local statutory reporting requirements. In this role, the Operational Controller will work closely with HQ Finance, remote Finance team & the respective business function to maintain a robust control environment, and in driving the business operational controllership metrics and controllership initiatives.



**Job Description**



**Roles and Responsibilities**



+ Responsible to ensure all statutory regulatory filings are completed timely, efficiently and in compliance with the country regulatory requirements. This includes branches, legal entities, and statutory consolidations from outside the US, as well as the management of the statutory audit process where applicable.

+ Institute governance mechanisms with oversight responsibility on overall Statutory to GAAP reconciliation accuracy and completion. Support the income tax reconciliation process and partner with tax function and BPO (PwC an Genpact).

+ Responsible for direct oversight on various financial statements line items such as indirect tax accounts.

+ Responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX, distributed controllership, process simplification and internal controls over IPP monitoring and risk. Serve as controllership experts on financial system and ERP implementations.

+ Drive consistent and effective policies and governance procedures during accounts reconciliation cycles. Developing within each function remediation plan to resolve unreconciled accounts and adjust open items. It includes providing professional or thought leadership and influences policy and ensures delivery within own function.

+ Partner with GE Corporate Audit Staff and Finance Managers for internal GE compliance reviews. Drive closure of open audit issues and proactively work to prevent future issues / manage risk. Lead resulting corrective action process implementation and follow up throughout the organization.

+ Work closely with auditors (primary auditor is Deloitte) and regional controllers to manage periodic audits of the statutory financial statements and coordinate audit requests for total Steam audit of the quarterly GE Steam Power financial statements and SOX internal control processes.

+ Partner with each owner for monthly updates in the controllership bowlers chart.

+ Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

+ Leads a global direct team of 10+ distributed individuals and BPO resources.



**Required Qualifications**



+ Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited university or college

+ Minimum of 5 to 8 years of working experience previously gained from big 4 accounting experience, second tier accounting firm, coupled with hands-on operational controllership experience from industrial business

+ Professional qualification with CPA or CA preferred.

+ Experience in the use of SAP and Hyperion
