**Job Description Summary**

This Staff Engineer posting is for a rotor mechanical design engineering role within the Turbines module team on a next-gen military NPI program. In this role, the Staff Engineer will take ownership of select turbine rotor hardware and execute the design throughout the upcoming NPI process following GE's internal design process, while also meeting our external customer's requirements.

**Job Description**

**Roles and Responsibilities**

+ Execute the mechanical design and analysis of select Turbine rotor hardware throughout the NPI design process using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

+ Interface with our external customer to ensure their requirements are met and that they fully understand the design status/challenges/opportunities throughout the design process.

+ Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of rotating parts mechanical design. Uses technical experience and expertise to demonstrate hardware meets technical requirements. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

+ Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience throughout Edison Works.

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

+ At least 8 additional years of experience in an engineering position.

+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Past rotor mechanical design experience, preferably with military turbines and/or other NPI programs

+ Existing US Government security clearance.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills.

+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

+ Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

+ Established project management skills.
