Sr Staff Cloud Incident Response Engineer

Role Summary:

This Senior Staff Cloud Security Engineer will be part of a dynamic and exciting team that is tasked with building detection and Incident response capabilities via native services in the Cloud space. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small but dynamic team that communicates and works excellent together, builds services and capabilities from the ground up.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead technical projects of cloud based digital security, incident detection and response



+ Specialize in design and building automation utilizing native cloud services



+ Perform daily response operations with a schedule that may involve nontraditional working hours, act as escalation point and subject matter expert during AWS cloud incidents and be a subject matter expert on AWS Security and Incident Response projects



+ Build, test and tune custom automation, aiding in the efficiency of our response capabilities



+ Mentor, train and demo developed capabilities and processes



+ The best candidates for the role will work well with others and have a strong sense of team unity



+ Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a sense of diplomacy and decision-making skills to handle the often fast-paced role of working on an incident response team



+ You will be required to demonstrate leadership abilities and work in a large corporate environment



+ Candidates also need to have a strong comprehension of / and knowledge of building automated solutions in Amazon (AWS) Cloud space.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:



+ Bachelors Degree in "STEM" (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) related majors OR equivalent years of relevant experience



+ Minimum 8 years IT experience with strong focus on cloud DevOps, engineering and/or security



+ Minimum 2 years experience working as a cloud security engineer



+ Minimum 3 years scripting or programming experience in Ruby, Python, Shell/BASH scripting, Java, C/C++, C*, Perl or other languages





Eligibility Requirements



+ Must be legally authorized to work in the US. GE will not agree to sponsor individuals' employment visas, now or in the future, for this role.



+ Open to remote workers in the US, however travel will be required to the primary location of Glen Allen, VA up to 10%

+ Ability to take charge and lead, while working with multiple teams through the organization to develop and implement small and large-scale solutions



+ Candidate will be organized and understand the importance of the development and maintenance of product documentation



+ Strong skills as Amazon Web Services (AWS) solutions architecture, engineering, and development



+ Experience collecting requirements and implementing scalable solutions



+ Provide subject matter expertise on architecture and engineering related to security and incident response solutions in AWS



+ Skillful at developing solutions using native services - Lambda, serverless architectures, Batch, Elastic Beanstalk, etc., data delivery and analytics (Athena, Kinesis, Data Pipeline, Glue, etc.), ECS/Docker/Kube and EC2/API Gateway



+ Thorough understanding of networking (VPC, subnets, NAT GW, routing, peering, load balancing) and Security and Identity (IAM, GuardDuty, WAF)



+ Preferred experience with container solutions and security (S3) and / or cloud databases (DynamoDB, RDS)



+ DevOps - Experience / Knowledge of Terraform, CI/CD in general and / or Jenkins



+ Understanding of incident response mythologies and processes, alerting and detection, collection and containment and how it relates to cloud



+ Capable of building automation to aid in streamlining incident response processes and support CIRT team members as an AWS subject matter expert



+ Be a mentor and lead by example



+ AWS certifications preferred but not required. If acquired, we will discuss certifications at the time of the interview
