We are looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and administering our company's computer networks. Your primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. You will also be working closely with the users of our network in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems.

To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintaining and administering corporate networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
  • Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.
  • May develop and administer end-user training to achieve efficient utilization of LAN/WAN
  • Configure and maintain Cisco, unify, Palo Alto and Juniper switching, wireless and security platforms.
  • Works with end users and vendors to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and other network problems.
  • Optimize reliability, performance, support and security of infrastructure.
  • Work closely with software engineers to implement new data center technologies.
  • Develop capacity plans for new and existing infrastructure
  • Plan automated backups and fail-over configurations
  • Analyze and resolve infrastructure faults and undertake routine preventative measures as well as kick off new initiatives to avoid service degradation
  • Act as escalation point between service delivery/support team and engineering to help identify and trouble shoot service problems.
  • Provide technical input in reviewing architecture, policies and procedures to ensure that security, backup, fail-over, alerting and disaster recovery mechanisms are in place.
  • Participate in and review resting procedures for change and configuration management in production environments.
  • Ensure production environments and data centers are equipped with proper level of resources and are designed correctly to scale per business needs.
  • Follow change management process before making any changes in the network topology, configuration, software, hardware etc.
  • Ensuring continuous availability of VPN tunnels and remote VPN access.
  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
  • Cross training to be able to assist in supporting data center and Cloud based technologies.
  • Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and systems.
  • Designing, configuring and testing networking software, hardware, and operating system software.
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
  • Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
  • Documenting and maintaining network diagrams and configurations of network equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Experience/Qualifications:

  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
  • Experience with configuring VPN tunnels between different make & models of gateways.
  • Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructure, best practices and principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP as well as DNS and DHCP fundamentals.
  • Expert knowledge of switching, routing, and wireless technologies including OSPF and some knowledge of BGP a plus.
  • LAN Switching VLAN, VTP, STP, QOS, LLDP-MED
  • Knowledge of VoIP/QoS design and deployment.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Knowledge of network cyber-security best practices for firewalls, firewall configs, ACLs, etc.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Network Security Cisco ISE, DUO 2FA Radius and OSSEC
  • Understanding of Penetration test
  • High level ability to troubleshoot and problem solve complex networking issues.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
  • Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
  • Quick learner of new network related technologies.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT.
  • A self-starter able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related field required OR equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience working in a Cisco, Meraki, Juniper and Palo Alto environment.
  • Network security experience.
  • LAN and WAN experience
