**Job Description Summary**

As a member of Plant Management ensure a safe working environment, a high level of quality in products and processes, a high level of productivity, and employee well-being by reviewing, facilitating, and monitoring the HSE program, and hereby reducing risk and ensuring conformity with federal, provincial, local, and global regulations.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

According to leadership frame (Engage-Empower-Execute)

Stay current on occupational safety, environment, and health regulations, and monitor regulatory requirements and technical changes with HSE impact, as they occur

Ensure a strong risk assessment culture, fully integrated in everything we do, i.e. in all Management of Change processes and in day-to-day activities on the shop floor

Initiate policy updates in accordance with global guidelines in order to achieve compliance and minimize risks

Promote safety awareness, and ensure HSE training of all employees, contractors, and visitors

Educate resources regarding HSE

Ensure training requirements are met for employees with special local or global HSE requirements (e.g., employees working in confined spaces and employees working at height)

Discuss safety issues with plant personnel (concerns, changes to protocol, etc., by using LMPS boards)

Perform internal HSE audits, and issue corrective actions to resolve findings

Provide input data for regional and global functions, and follow up on monthly controlling reports as required

Prepare and submit reports as required by the authorities

Minimize citations (OHSAS, EPA) by identifying issues and implementing solutions

Share best practices within the plant regarding incident reports, regulatory information, etc., and communicate lesson learned to relevant external parties

Monitor and ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals

Plan meetings with local HSE committee

Form and analyze preventive actions to improve plant safety

Participate in elimination or reduction of undesired events

Perform inspections and trials of new PPE for production processes

**Required Qualifications**

+ For roles outside of the USA- This role requires significant experience in the Environmental Health & Safety & Fixed Facilities. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

+ For roles in USA - Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
