Job Description

Sr. EHS Engineer will be responsible for helping site identify, manage and mitigate environmental, health and safety risks. Ensure compliance to all applicable laws and regulations governing all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety. Help site follow all corporate EHS requirements as needed by developing and implementing various EHS programs. 


Essential Duties / Functions
    Helps in ensuring the site to be compliant with all Environmental Health and Safety regulations at the Federal, State and Local levels. 
    Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs per corporate and regulatory requirements.
    Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes
    Perform risk assessments of current and new manufacturing processes and equipment to identify risks and develop a mitigation plan to protect employees safety and health.
    Develop and assist in implementation of an ergonomics program with help from consultant. 
    Manage Industrial hygiene program at the site with help of contractors and implement improvements when required. 
    Develop and conduct EHS trainings regularly to help in achieving 100% compliance.
    Coordinate and participate in facility EHS inspections to mitigate hazards.
    Lead incident investigations to find root causes and ensure implementation of CAPAs identified. Assist with managing workers compensation filing.
    Assist in implementation & enforcement of various environmental programs including hazardous waste management, wastewater & air programs, and other environmental requirements as required
    Work with various levels of site personnel to establish and execute processes and systems that support and reinforce EHS compliance at the site.
    Participate in audits of existing safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomic and environmental programs and address deficiencies to achieve excellence.
    Provide support during any regulatory or internal inspections.
    Coordinate collection of EHS data reporting to corporate
    Assist in implementation of various EHS enhancement projects.
    Coordinate First Aid Team and Spill Response Team trainings and ensure adequate supplies are kept with help of vendors.
    Perform other duties as assigned or required by business needs.

Qualifications

Education Required: 

  • Bachelors of Engineering/ Science preferably in Occupational Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Engineering or other Engineering or Sciences Or other closely related field

Experience Required: 

  •  3-5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing industry preferably in Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • CIH or CSP or working towards it preferred
  • Requires experience with Federal, state, and local regulations relative to environment, health, and safety (OSHA, EPA, NJ DEP, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) a plus
  • Self-starter; Results driven; Anticipate/initiates and implements solutions
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus. 
  • Must be comfortable in a fast paced environment
  • Ability for scheduling flexibility to cover different work shifts (24 hours a day/6 days a week) when required.
  • Required to be on call 24 hours for emergency response needs.
  • Training and presentation skills, techniques, applications and practices.
  • Preparing clear and concise reports and/or proposals related to safety and regulatory compliance programs. 
  • Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with all levels personnel.
  • Required to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Knowhow of PowerBI is a plus but not required.
