12 Month Term Position Remote Work

Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Sr Accounts Payable Technician for our Lansing site. This is a remote position. The select candidate must have the availability to come into the Lansing office as required. The ideal candidate will preferably have an associates degree, a minimum of 2.4 years of experience in accounts payable, knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) concepts and proficient knowledge of MS Office applications. Experience with an ERP system for accounts payable processing is a must, SAP experience is a plus and must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

The Sr. Accounts Payable Technician will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor payments. The Accounts Payable Technician will work collaboratively with Emergent associates and vendors ensuring compliance to prescribed methods and procedures.


  • Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable invoices for payment using prescribed procedures in an SAP environment utilizing the 3-way match between purchase orders, receipt of goods or Services and vendor invoices, or may include the direct voucher of vendor invoices into accounts payable
  • Ensure proper general ledger account coding of vendor invoices and obtain the appropriate authorizations and approvals as prescribed by the corporate authorization policy
  • Assist in the completion of vendor payment activities which include check runs, ACH payments and wire transfers
  • Monthly Service Accrual entries and Month End reconciliation of Accounts Payable related GL accounts
  • Regularly interface with Vendors, Procurement, Operations and Finance to monitor and resolve accounts payable related issues. Maintain internal and external relationships in a positive and proactive manner.
  • Reviewing Expense Reports and Purchase Card reports utilizing an On-line expense report system (Concur) for SAP posting.
  • As part of a team, providing administrative support and other functions as assigned which may include but are not limited to: training of team members, completion of requirements pertaining to various audits, assisting others with workload when necessary, taking responsibility for new assignments, and working on special projects as needed.

  • High School diploma with Associates degree preferred; college level accounting classes required
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in accounts payable with knowledge in accounting
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) concepts
  • Proficient in a variety of computer applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with an ERP system for Accounts Payable processing a must
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Able to prioritize and meet deadlines communication, attention to details, and collaborative/team working skills
  • Knowledge in use of Microsoft Office suite of products is required; and knowledge of other software products is an asset
