Your Role: Reporting to the President, the Special Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the President and other members of the President's Office in day-to day activities and various projects across the organization. This role works closely with the President's Office Executive Assistant team on preparation for internal and external meetings or events by ensuring logistics and presentations are prepared.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Takes the lead in preparing the President for meetings and speaking engagements with a variety of audiences, including local, state and federal government officials, business and real estate executives and various professional associations, and the general public.
  • Writes briefing memoranda and other written materials for the President including ghost writing for internal communications.
  • In partnership with the Executive Assistant team in the President's Office, helps coordinate the President's day-to-day correspondence, schedule, call lists, etc.
  • Provides time off coverage for the Executive Assistants in the President's Office.
  • Attends professional and public forum events with the President and in partnership with the Driver, ensures the timely departure and arrival at events.
  • Researches and writes reports and other working documents that provide guidance on complex projects and program issues.
  • Collects information from business divisions/departments at the President's or Chief of Staff's request for speaking engagements, meetings, and public appearances.
  • Coordinates project-based work across the divisions/departments under the President's or Chief of Staff's direction.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with governmental and quasi-governmental entities, real estate and business groups. civic and community organizations, cultural and professional organizations, and advocacy groups.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
  • 3 years of experience in a professional writing capacity and/or providing high level support preferred
  • Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on 'big picture' issues while simultaneously maintaining an exceptional attention to critical details
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to maintain an exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment, and able to exercise thoughtful and independent judgement and discretion while maintaining a direct and diplomatic approach
  • Proven commitment in maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards
  • Positive "can-do" attitude
  • Proactive in completing tasks accurately and on time
  • Interest in New York City and New York State government and public policy
  • NYC residency is required within 180 days of starting position
