**Job Description Summary**

We are currently recruiting for exciting new Software opportunities on platforms such as Electrical Power Distribution Systems for Gulfstream business jets, as well engage with our R&D team for new generation technology of those systems. As a Software Technical Lead in our Software team, and alongside a team of experienced and developing Engineers, you will get hands on with the whole software lifecycle whilst also technically leading a team of software engineers. You will be responsible for developing and/or verifying safety-critical software for an aircraft electrical power distribution system, ensuring high-quality software requirements, and designing & writing efficient software to meet those requirements and stand the test of time. You will have significant experience of software development and verification & validation (including new / re-use / deltas), and youll thrive on solving technical software engineering problems, in collaboration with other engineering functions. You will also technically lead the team to help deliver the technical solution to the agreed scope, protect against scope creep, and maintain and provide metrics to monitor technical activities and project progress trends. You will own the technical direction and accountability for the software solution meeting requirements, support the project leadership in change management activities and identify risks and opportunities. All these activities will be done whilst ensuring adherence to project, company and industry standards.

**Job Description**



**Essential Responsibilities**



+ Technically lead a software team across the software lifecycle to ensure customer requirements are met

+ Capture, understand and document the software requirements

+ Create, update and maintain software architecture and designs for implementation

+ Implementation in the C programming language

+ Understand and implement software verification strategies, and create, update and perform software tests including in engineering labs on target hardware

+ Support analysis and updating of existing lifecycle artefacts for changes as well as helping to create new lifecycle artefacts

+ Support creation / maintenance of other software lifecycle artefacts where required (e.g. SECI, planning documents, change impact analyses, etc)

+ Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

+ Assure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and tasks are consistent with engineering policies and procedures

+ Perform baseline management and configuration control / change control activities.

+ Create / maintain traceability.

+ Work to rigorous development standards

+ Deliver on quality, schedule and cost

+ Liaise with other engineering disciplines such as systems engineering, and supporting functions such as quality assurance and safety

+ Contribute to the businesss software engineering strategy



**Qualifications / Requirements**



+ Hands-on experience of software design lifecycle within aerospace, automotive or similar embedded software development environment.

+ Experience of designing and implementing real-time embedded software, and subsequent verification.

+ Experience of technically leading a small group of software engineers.

+ Experience of RTCA DO-178B/C, DAL level A or B, or similar.

+ Experience creating and maintaining traceability.

+ Experience of baseline management, configuration control and change control.

+ Proficiency in C and assembler.

+ Awareness of target hardware

+ Ability to execute and solve problems autonomously.

+ A degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent level of knowledge and experience



**Desired Characteristics**



+ You will be working as part of a team so good communication, both written and verbal.

+ Awareness of systems and/or hardware design engineering.

+ Awareness of or experience with target hardware and test equipment / rigs.

+ A general understanding of electrical power distribution systems.

+ Demonstrable success in achieving and exceeding internal customer milestones.

+ Awareness of Agile and Kanban techniques.

+ Awareness of lean methodologies for problem solving.
