**Job Description Summary**

Manufacturing Shift Operations Leader for a commercial nuclear fuel manufacturing operation. Leader of a team that converts uranium powder into ceramic pellets and loaded into zirconium rods for use in commercial nuclear power plants. In this role, you will be responsible for shift safety, procedure compliance, product quality, efficient product manufacturing and positive team member engagement.



**Job Description**



Essential Responsibilities:



Leader of the Ceramics 2nd shift (3-11 pm) team in Global Nuclear Fuels Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO). Responsibilities include:



+ Select, train, develop, and provide ongoing leadership and direction of assigned personnel

+ Ensure team members are provided adequate training, resources and support to assure safe and compliant manufacturing practices in a nuclear regulated environment

+ Be responsible for meeting the shift's strict EHS requirements, product quality requirements and production schedule requirements

+ Assure operation planning - provides direction to support needs of production area, including work assignments, scheduling of overtime, and training

+ Support, encourage and facilitate Human Performance principles. Engrain in the team use of HU tools as it relates to safety and quality.

+ Focus team on constantly seeking opportunity for improvement

+ High-level understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles to facilitate design and implementation of continuous improvement of processes with the team.

+ Work with manufacturing engineering, support functions and manufacturing leadership to provide technical, quality and production leadership. Identify, effectively communicate, and own to resolution issues that may arise.

+ Communicate business goals, programs, and processes to shift

+ Promote team engagement and ownership

+ Develop and support the growth of all team employees

+ Support manufacturing leaders in the strategic planning of staffing, equipment and other resources



Basic Qualifications:



+ Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university; OR a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing role

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, nuclear operations, technical or supervisory role. Work experience must include one of the following: 1 year of supervisory experience OR 2 years technical experience OR 3 years of operator experience.



Eligibility Requirements:



+ Ability and willingness to cover off-shifts. Regular shift assignment will be night shift (11pm 7am) in the Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO).

+ Ability to wear protective clothing and a respirator in accordance with site requirements.

+ Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times during the day.

+ An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen



Desired Qualifications:



+ BS/BA in a technical field

+ Nuclear plant operations or services experience

+ Mechanical or ceramics engineering experience

+ Knowledge of nuclear fuel manufacturing

+ Experience working in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulated environment. Strong techniques to ensure the team performs to high standards of procedural compliance.

+ Ability to interpret engineering documentation, such as P & IDs

+ Experience in manufacturing or nuclear procedure and training development.

+ Proven facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills. Work with other 2 shift supervisors as a team to implement consistent supervisory and operational practices.

+ Strong organizational skills and ability to both resolve daily urgent issues at the same time as working on continuous improvement projects.

+ Practical experience with identifying opportunities for and designing changes to processes based on Lean. Experience in training and positively influencing teams of workers who are used to traditional batch processing environments during implementation of Lean changes.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

+ Proven ability to create real and positive change. Proactively identify and provide practical options to manage and mitigate risks.

+ Actively participates and leads efforts to solve problems.

+ Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)

+ Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification. Experience implementing Lean manufacturing concepts and tools.

+ GE Program graduate, e.g., OMLP, EEDP (GE employees only).
