**Job Description Summary**

As the Senior Test Engineer Wind Turbine Rotor Systems, you will manage and execute projects related to strength and lifetime testing of wind turbine rotor systems. A rotor system comprises among others: the hub with blade pitch bearings, pitch drives, control system, and blade stubs and are collectively referred to as Device Under Testing (DUT). The tests are being executed at test rigs especially developed for full scale testing of a DUT in a laboratory environment and the team makes use of in-house developed measurement and data acquisition (DAQ) systems. The aim of the tests is to understand failure behaviour of rotor systems under complex loading conditions and to minimize failures occurring in the field. Furthermore, you will be contributing to Research and Development programs with the aim to further develop in-house testing capabilities. You will be working in a dynamic team of professionals sharing the ambition to fulfil strategic and business needs of the company.

WMC Technology Center is part of LM Wind Power which is the world largest manufacturer of wind turbine blades. WMC is a test facility for (mechanical) validation testing of wind turbine components. WMC currently operates two full scale test setups for the validation of rotor systems and components of wind turbines in the 5-8 MW range. Furthermore, the test facility is equipped to perform validation testing ranging from full scale structural testing of large components down to small scale material testing on coupon level. WMC has the in-house expertise for the design of test setups including control systems and instrumentation.

**Job Description**

**Roles and Responsibilities**

+ Define rotor test projects including the preparation of a project plan, determining the project budget, planning of resources and facilities, etc.

+ Execute rotor test projects:

+ from receiving the test request from (internal and external) customers;

+ via preparing detailed test plan, with instrumentation and DAQ system;

+ installing and preparing the devices under testing;

+ analyzing data;

+ up to and including reporting results to the customer.

+ Operate the newly developed and complex rotor systems test rigs with the DUTs.

+ Design and develop new test methods and measurement systems (hardware and software) and continuously improve existing ones.

+ Define required calibration of instruments (in-house and via third parties) and calibrate measurement chains.

+ Develop quality procedures, work instructions and/or templates for all related activities like testing, measuring, calibrating, reporting, etc.

+ Contributes to healthy and safe work environment and execution of test projects. Instruct and delegate tasks to team members and supervise the progress.

+ Manage tasks that will be outsourced to third parties like consultants, construction companies and/or suppliers.

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor or masters degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar).

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and executing test and measurement projects related to strength and fatigue of complex mechanical systems, preferably related to wind turbines and their rotor systems.

+ Proven experience to execute test programs in accordance with quality assurance systems and standards.

+ Experience in designing and operating complex test rigs and measurement systems (including design of hardware, tuning of control systems, using DAQ systems, and troubleshooting).

+ Proven experience in leading by example when it comes to EHS and Quality

+ project management skills and experience in managing and executing multidisciplinary projects for customers in an industrial environment while making use of project management tools.

+ Fluent in English, written and spoken.

+ Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

+ Valid permit to work and live in European Union.
