Role Summary:The Systems Thermal Senior Engineer should have expertise on system level thermal analysis and management for Wind Turbines. He/she will work with subsystems SILs and component owners to define system level strategy to manage thermal conditions inside wind turbine and develop strategies to expand Wind Turbine thermal capabilities, specifying design requirement for component.

Essential Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Systems, Performance &SVO Manager, he/she will coordinate thermal analysis activities within the team and any additional resources include. CFD contractors



Essential Responsibilities:



Provide technical solutions and design support for Wind Turbine Thermal Balance



Provide analysis and data processing leading to the identification and reduction of temperatures inside the wind turbine



Provide support to develop Thermal models, including detailed CFS, simplified CFD models as well as analytical models



Interact with design engineers in simultaneous engineering team to provide inputs for new wind turbine design.



Execute experimental models to validate assessment models, methods and turbine design and to develop new technologies



Interact with tool developers to provide input for next generation tools development and validation



Support the system level optimization targeting trade-off solutions for cost of energy reduction



Assess design risks and establish validation plans for new concepts in thermal design



Consideration of environmental conditions (temperature, air density, wind speeds and solar radiation) relative to their influence on the operation of the wind turbine regarding thermal behavior.



Support the complete design review process regarding the thermal behavior of wind turbines and all its interaction regarding component specification, design and validation including generation of all related documentations



Thermal analysis and associated reviews scheduling and coordination, including internal/external resources management



Development of new/alternative methodologies targeting to have a better understanding, and leaner/faster and more flexible analysis methods as well as a better leverage of thermal behavior return of experience from the vast fleet GE operates.



Develop analysis methods and tools to support probabilistic design approach for cutting corners specification and for optimize wind farm operation specific to the WF thermal / electrical conditions, in joint effort with subsystem designers.



Support fleet issues regarding thermal behavior, conduct RCA and propose mitigation actions, while capturing return of experience to prevent re-occurrence













Qualifications/Requirements:



+ Masters degree in Engineering (mechanical, Aero, thermal)



+ Significant experience in an engineering position related to new product introduction



+ Strong experience in an engineering position that demonstrates knowledge in heat flow and analysis



+ Relevant/Proven experience in CFD analysis tools



+ Quantitative and analytical skills for simulation results interpretation



+ Creative problem solving skills



+ Excellent interpersonal communication skills to work in global organization



+ Excellent Operating skills to coordinate work with internal/external stakeholders in a global working environment



+ If contracted in Spain:

Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.

+ Knowledge in the field of Wind Turbine Technology and wind turbine component design



+ Experience measuring fluid dynamics



+ Deep experience in system thermal validation technics
