Senior System Admin and Cyber Security Engineer

Role Summary:The Sr System Admin and Cyber Security Engineer is a dynamic role requiring knowledge of server physical & virtual, Linux OS, Windows OS, Storage NAS/SAN, Backup/Recovery, security, and secure software development practices. The engineer will partner with existing development teams to build secure software - reviewing user stories, participating in code reviews, and diving into code new functionality or fix vulnerabilities in existing projects.

Essential Responsibilities: Technical:





+ Serve as technical authority ongoing administration and incident management support of core infrastructure [network, security, and virtualization, patching, monitoring, backups] technologies that underpin Software Solutions Factories,



+ Technical: Provide IT incident management tech support to Software Solutions product support, customer project teams



+ Responsible for operating and maintaining security tools. Running and analyzing vulnerability and compliance scans to support continuous monitoring reporting and vulnerability management. Cyber Security, risk and compliance: Improve Cyber posture through L1/L2 and L3 day to day incident management Support operations.



+ Work with Digital Grid IT CISO and relevant security contacts to resolve and reduce cyber security incidents and compliance challenges; Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of IT operations and drive significant operational, risk management, and economic benefits for their organization

+ Ensure all tasks are carried out with respect to applicable processes and procedures [e.g. ISO9001 and ISO27001] applicable to site[s] and functions within job scope.



+ Business knowledge - Become familiar with GEs Digital Grid IT hardware and software products to enable administration & design of IT technologies that will enable growth and improve GEs competitive edge;









Qualifications/Requirements:



+ Fluent English speaker



+ Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge or experience



+ Proven track record of problem analysis, identification and resolution



+ Excellent communication skills, commitment, discipline, positive attitude, following management prioritization, accountability and flexibility



+ Strong understanding of ITIL and change management policies and procedures.



+ Significant IT experience in a technical hands-on position



+ System administration: Windows and Linux - core competency to install, configure, manage.



+ Network hardware: Cisco enterprise hardware. VLAN, ACL, routing and VPN - install, configure, manage



+ Security management: Enterprise firewall equipment e.g. Cisco ASA or equivalent install, configure, manage



+ Access control: Windows Active Directory install, configure, manage



+ Virtualization: VMware vSphere clusters, experience with HA, DRS, and vStorage backup APIs desirable



+ Storage: Shared NAS/SAN network storage e.g. NetApp FAS/OnTap, HP EVA/MSA.



+ Backup Technologies



+ Incident response and vulnerability management



+ Strong Cyber/Security foundation







Desired Characteristics:



+ A general understanding of supporting technologies including SOAP, OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, HTTP, XML, LDAP, SQL, and XACML.



+ Experience with IAM solutions like Cyber-Ark, Ping Identity, Siteminder, Attribute Exchange Network



+ Experience with Java / NodeJS / Go / PHP / Python / Ruby



+ Spring and Maven exposure



+ Working knowledge of OWASP Web/API vulnerabilities and compensating controls (CSRF, XSS, SQLI, etc.)



+ Familiarity with encryption fundamentals: PKI, Encryption, Digital Signatures & Key Management



+ Software development cycle and automated testing experience (TDD/BDD)



+ Working knowledge of source control tools such as CVS/SVN /Git , with preference for Git



Technical Expertise:



+ Strong development background, with a focus on secure development.



+ Knowledge of API Security Architecture



+ Working knowledge of Cloud Provider security architecture design patterns



+ Great communication, team spirit, and leadership abilities
