Overview
Maverick Natural Resources is seeking a motivated Senior Geologist to join their team. This individual is responsible for the geologic evaluation and development of the company's Conventional and EOR assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both conventional and unconventional evaluation. Additionally, knowledge of both carbonates and clastics and experience in stratigraphic correlation based on depositional environment, diagenesis and observed production/injection behavior is required. The candidate should have a history of building geological interpretations and will be expected to work in an integrated asset team. Having geophysical background would be a plus.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate from a geological perspective competitor activity within assigned areas
- Analyze, integrate, and interpret core, well log, seismic, completion, and production data
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to build a development plan and annual budget
- Support field-wide development opportunities, including well spacing, identifying and proposing potential BP pay
- Generate presentation quality subsurface maps and cross-sections to convey ideas and support drilling locations, recompletions, and reserve cases
- Keeping the geologic database organized and updated
- Train/mentor other geologist, engineers, and technical assistants
- Document prospects using generate presentation quality subsurface maps and cross-sections, this will build the companies drilling portfolio
- Work with technical assistant to map relevant activity metrics, and keep maps up to date.
- Work with completions and reservoir engineering team members to optimize completions and land wells in the optimal interval
- Work with land, production, and reservoir team members to develop plan and budget, will need to support plan with maps and cross-sections, and present plan/ budget to Sr. Management
- Work with technical assistant to organize data, load it into workstation, and make sure it is filed in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's (required) or Master's (preferred) degree in Geology or Geophysics
- At least eight years of industry experience as a geologist
- Proficient in log analysis
- Proficient with IHS Petra software to generate maps, cross-sections, and volumetrics
- Experience in production data analysis
- Background knowledge of various reservoir modeling tools
- Horizontal and vertical drilling operations experience
- Experience in conventional plays, waterfloods and EOR projects
- Experience in 2D & 3D seismic interpretation
- Proficient with standard computer software (Microsoft Suite- Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and others)
- Occasional travel to the field might be requested
