Senior Estimator


 




The Senior Estimator is a highly visible project member on a team responsible for delivering exceptional and trusted client services in the construction industry. This role aggregates and analyzes all relevant data for preconstruction projects as necessary for the team to fulfill its responsibility to internal and external stakeholders.


 


The Senior Estimator will contribute to the day-to-day administration of the full suite of preconstruction services. These may include feasibility studies, budget estimates from conceptual design to final bidding, comparative studies, value engineering, and presentation of the same to clients. The Senior Estimator may be part of efforts to secure new business opportunities, including involvement in industry organizations and participation in the project interview process.

 


Education/ Years of Experience:



  • Minimum (3) years of experience in commercial construction, MEP experience a plus.

  • Has been the lead Senior Estimator on several projects or significant portions of larger projects



 


Direction, Supervision & Authority:



  • This position reports to the Chief Estimator.

  • This position works with the Junior Estimators and Project Engineers on the project team



 


Skills/Abilities:



  • Software proficiency

  • Microsoft Office Suite, with high level of proficiency using Excel

  • On Screen Take-off (OST) or similar digital takeoff software

  • Adobe products or Bluebeam PDF Software

  • Provide complete preconstruction services to our clients and operations team with minimal oversight

  • Able to travel to Triad, Charlotte, Wilmington, or Columbia SC occasionally for a site visit / client meeting.

  • Prepare and analyze pricing proposals to include current market and regional conditions, historical data, material escalation, internal estimate and subcontractor input in order to provide complete and accurate estimates to our clients

  • Participate in the design and preconstruction phase with all stakeholders including owners, design team, consultants and Bobbitt operations to move the project into the construction phase

  • Presentation and interviews with clients, including strategic preparation

  • Fully understand all building systems and opportunities to control or reduce costs

  • Understand construction drawings and specifications and identify missing elements to provide complete proposals

  • Understand project scheduling, phasing and logistical planning of projects

  • Manage and delegate responsibilities for multiple projects and deadlines

  • Understand geotechnical reports

  • Understand LEED Requirements

Physical Requirements:




  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
