SAIC is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to focus on forward-leaning application security architecture practices for a major client in Kansas City, MO.

Job Description:

This Senior Enterprise Architect must first be a well-rounded, technically-competent general architect, able to work at both solution and enterprise levels. This architect will collaborate with a team of other senior architects, each focused on various specific areas of improvement. Specially, this candidate will help define, refine, develop, advocate and support good application security patterns, practices and platforms. The goal is to make application security both stronger and easier for development teams to embrace and apply successfully. Establishing objective, automated validation of strong application security architecture compliance is a key part of this role. Building consensus and priority for these new security capabilities is also an important responsibility. Solid relationships building with key technology leaders and staff is required, especially with the client’s formal information security office. Prioritized solutions must be demonstrated in practical working proof of concepts, reference applications and pilot implementations. Hands-on ability to work efficiently with many legacy and candidate technologies is required as security solutions move from exploration to proof of concept to standards to active use within the organization. Solutions must also be supported by online documentation and implementation guidance. The candidate will be called upon to help build training material and presentations introducing security technologies, standards and patterns. The candidate must work well with a large team to link security architecture work effectively with the work of others.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both defining and directly building security into advanced distributed systems. They must be a highly productive developer with excellent design and architecture skills. Solid experience and proficiency with open source software tools are needed. They must be a self-starter and a fast study on new technologies, especially from a security perspective. Success will require the ability to collaborate and influence. The candidate must be flexible, have a great attitude, and be willing to adapt to changing demands to accomplish the mission. The ability to clearly narrate, diagram and document the reasoning and guidance behind the recommended security solutions is critical.

Primary responsibilities:

Provide technical and strategic influence on topics of application security and other architecture topics for a diverse functional and technical community including enterprise architects, analysts and systems engineers

Present technical information to both technical staff and executive audiences

Work directly with technical leaders, architects and developers to craft guidance on new application security patterns, solutions and standards, including methods to bridge between legacy and new application security patterns

Influence the building and approving of new application security standards and demonstrate the same in working code and supporting documentation

Provide appropriately-leveled guidance and explanations for executives, as needed

Integrate and translate complex concepts into tactical action plans and roadmaps for introducing new solutions

Upgrade and expand existing technical standards to practically support the needs of the internal IT community

Influence the current software development culture to embrace and adopt security improvements

Earn the respect of the technical peers for pragmatic and transformational application security technical ideas

Work closely with those managing and governing mandatory client information security practices

Assist in creating formal security plans needed to document and demonstrate security capabilities

Qualifications:
Education and Qualifications:

-
Bachelor's degree in related field and 9-10+ years related experience

-
Four additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

-
Certification in secure application development and coding practices

-
Specific experience in information technology security practices

-
Expert level Java distributed systems development & architecture (including JEE experience)

Moderate level of JavaScript development and architecture (favoring new UI technologies)

-
Substantial practice in the architecture, delivery and operations of cloud-hosted solutions

Substantial experience with security for both distributed systems and large COTS platforms

-
Specific experience with Salesforce.com (Force.com platform) is highly desired.

Broadest possible applied development experience across multiple technologies

Strong communications skills (oral, written and graphical)

Flexibility, as the team often must adjust plans to accommodate unexpected external priority drivers.

Experience working for or with a federal agency (desirable)

-
Experience with cloud-based security solutions (highly desirable)

Experience and understanding of federal cybersecurity standards and processes (highly desirable)

Clearance Requirement:

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance

US CITIZEN or Green Card Holder
