**Job Description Summary**
The successful candidate will be a Materials Engineer for steel materials and processing technologies used in the design and manufacture of Wind Turbine products with GE Renewable Energy.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Support cross-functional teams to deliver qualified materials and components that meet engineering requirements, cost targets, and production fulfillment schedules.
+ Review supplier documentation, perform audits, and evaluate test results against GE requirements. Drive continuous improvement.
+ Execute research and development programs on new steel materials and processes that enable new product introductions for GE Renewables.
+ Continuous improvement of current materials and components to improve quality and/or reduce costs through new or revised special processes and/or alternate materials.
+ Perform root cause and corrective action analyses to solve problems in manufacturing processes and customer operations.
+ Write and interpret material and special process specifications.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Materials Science Engineering or related field.
+ Minimum 5 years of steel materials or steel process engineering experience relevant to components used in wind turbines.
+ Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in metallurgical processing, testing, and/or analysis.
+ Minimum of 5 years experience with material failure modes and analysis techniques.
+ Ability and availability to travel (international and domestic) as needed (less than 40%)
**Desired Characteristics**
+ Knowledge of international codes and standards for steel materials, welding, testing, and compliance.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas - welding, casting, fracture mechanics, residual stress, and/or non-destructive evaluation.
+ Adaptable as needs and priorities change.
+ Demonstrated ability to influence and drive consensus.
+ Highly motivated and hands-on.
