**Job Description Summary**

This role directly contributes to the development of next-generation fuel products (hardware & software) that are beneficial to our business and our customers. The role is primarily responsible for the development, qualification, licensing, and maintenance of methodologies and associated engineering computer programs in support of the safe and economic operation of Light Water Reactor (LWR) and other reactor technologies. While the primary focus of this role will be in the neutronics area in the Analytical Methods Technology team, AMT is also responsible for supporting customers with emergent questions in the areas of reactor thermal-hydraulics, heat transfer, two-phase flow, and instrumentation physics.

**Job Description**


+ Adapt computational methods of neutron transport to novel solutions for reactor physics problems.

+ Provide meaningful contributions and leadership in the development, qualification, licensing, and maintenance of analytical methods required for evaluation of steady-state and transient core/fuel performance of nuclear reactors.

+ Work within an approved regulatory framework for nuclear software quality assurance for engineering computer programs.

+ Industry experience with BWR nuclear core design, operation, or management.

+ Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers.

+ Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.

+ Communicate with internal/external users of developed codes and methods through direct consultation, documentation, and training.

+ Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.

+ Support a team culture based on team work, integrity, candor, transparency, and execution on commitments.

+ Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with other team members on engineering/technical issues.

+ Assist and provide support to the team technical leader and functional manager to plan, status and execute projects.

+ Mentor less experienced colleagues.

+ Support the interface with various regulatory agencies (NRC, DOE, etc.) as appropriate.

+ B.S. degree from an accredited university or college in nuclear engineering, physics, mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline

+ Six or more years of cumulative engineering experience within the nuclear industry (e.g., nuclear fuel design and analysis, core or plant design, or nuclear safety analysis and methods) or academia


+ Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, computational methods, or a closely related discipline.

+ Experience developing, qualifying, licensing, and applying lattice physics codes to LWR evaluations.

+ Experience developing, qualifying, licensing, and applying reactor physics codes to LWR evaluations.

+ Experience in the use of Monte Carlo codes (MCNP) for evaluating criticality and fixed source problems.

+ Demonstrated experience in developing neutron transport theory-based simulation models for nuclear reactor analysis.

+ Understanding of basic statistical theory and its applications.

+ Detailed knowledge of the subject areas of reactor physics and numerical methods.

+ Knowledge of and/or experience with software Commercial Grade Dedication in accordance with NQA-1.

+ Proficiency with Fortran, C#, and Python.

+ Working knowledge of nuclear reactor core licensing, technical specifications, safety margin bases, code methodology licensing, and related federal regulations.

+ Experience in development and licensing of nuclear fuel products.

+ Experience in articulating clear technical problem statements to technical/non-technical audiences and helping to drive to a technical consensus among a team.

+ Experience in creating appropriately designed test suites and associated automation scripts to enable more efficient work and allow for more rigorous development of technical solutions

+ Publication of technical articles and/or patent applications.

+ Demonstrated ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information.

+ Exceptional organization skills.

+ Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles; ability to achieve stretch targets.

+ Strong external focus; clear and demonstrated understanding of nuclear industry and/or energy industry.

+ Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent quality certification.
