**Job Description Summary**

The Senior Chemical Process Engineer is a key technical resource supporting manufacturing processes. This role will introduce new processes and products (NPIs) at the Huntsville, AL manufacturing site. This role is also responsible for engineering and design tasks of the chemical process engineering discipline of assigned projects. It will independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. The Senior Chemical Process Engineer role impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the team and has significant input into priorities, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

**Job Description**

**Essential Responsibilities**

+ Introduce new processes and products (NPIs) at the manufacturing Site, including the scaling up of field and laboratory data to commercial design.

+ Participate in PSM, RMP.

+ Lead/ participate in Management of Change, Pre Start-Up Safety Reviews and Process Hazards Analysis processes.

+ Develop, maintain and implement, as needed, PSM, RMP, and GE Aviation policies, procedures, standards, and related goals, objectives and action plans.

+ Participate in the development and review of equipment and systems for capital projects to help ensure compliance to applicable requirements, standards, and codes.

+ Develop heat and material balances and Process Flow Diagrams.

+ Specify equipment, coordinate with vendors, and develop Piping & Instrument Diagram

+ Develop manufacturing costs.

+ Participate and support chemical equipment and system management in developing goals, objectives, action plans and KPIs.

+ Investigate and analyze ongoing operational activities to eliminate systemic deviations and to optimize processes.

+ Lead or participate in investigations, root cause analysis and resolution of incidents and non-conformances.

+ Use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.

+ Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

+ Explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus. Develop persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

+ Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Materials Science & Engineering.

+ >5 years of chemical / petrochemical industry related experience.

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Experienced with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management) processes.

+ Familiar with a wide variety of process equipment including pumps, coolers, process piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, modulated valves, rotating equipment, vaporizers, combustion devices, fluid flow, instrumentation, process controls and like components found in major process-oriented plants.

+ Professional Engineer Licensed.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
