POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing benefit support to all business units within AtlantiCare to meet their established goals and objectives. In this role the Senior Benefits Specialist will work with vendors to ensure compliance to established contracts, lead the work pertaining to the regulatory filings including (plan testing, audits, plan documents, PPACA, 5500s, post retirement evaluations), analyze and preparing data for various committees including the Health and Wellness Steering Committee and Due Diligence Committee, and continually seeks out opportunities for process improvement within our existing programs including new or pertinent products or services for employer sponsored benefit programs
The Senior Benefits Specialist will assist with the review and updating of SPD's, plan design changes in the benefits administration system, MyADP and the HR Benefits Portal. Responsible for assigning Accrual codes to employee accounts and troubleshoots when necessary. This position also works with vendors to ensure compliance to established contracts and regulatory filings including plan testing and audits as required. Responds to vendors questions and concerns in a timely manner and acts as a liaison between vendors and/or vendors and employees. This includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, vision, prescription, COBRA, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long term disability, voluntary offerings and retirement savings programs. In addition, the Senior Benefits Specialist handles all inquiries from employees in regard to their claims including payment, deductible disputes and savings plan accounts.
This position assists in New Hire Orientation, Open Enrollment planning and annual planning process which includes premium analysis, market surveys, defined benefit projections, and defined contribution strategy and wellness initiatives. This position will be play a large role in developing communications related to open enrollment, education, and change management
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. Must demonstrate flexibility and commitment for multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Business (HR, Finance, Math, or Computer Science) or 5+ years equivalent work experience with employer sponsored benefits or insurance industry required. A professional certification in benefits preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE: Requires a minimum of 3 years in an analyst role preferably with employer sponsored benefits or insurance industry. Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis on raw data and present recommendations to drive desired outcomes required. Strong working knowledge of report writing and advanced Excel required. Demonstrated experience in managing vendor relationships as well as an expert knowledge and understanding of COBRA, ERISA, PPA, PPACA, and other benefit legislation required. Retirement Program administration experience with a strong background in Defined Benefit plans and experience with self- funded plans preferably in hospital or not for profit function strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects in a fast pace environment, functions independently, task oriented and innovative in process improvement.
