JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Scientist will be a member of Drug Substance Development department within Development Services involved in the development, optimization and tech transfer of Downstream purification processes for recombinant protein, mAb and virus-based vaccines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the development of scalable downstream processes to purify recombinant proteins and recombinant viruses.
  • Assist in the technology transfer of developed processes to manufacturing sites.
  • Trouble-shoot and maintain purification and tangential flow filtration systems.
  • Prepare Operational and Maintenance Equipment SOPs and Development Batch Records.
  • Development of centrifugation and filtration techniques for the recovery of proteins / virus / mAb
  • Summarize and analyze experiment results

Additional responsibilities will be:

  • Assist with lab organization and maintenance
  • Actively participate in 6S activities
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook and other relevant documentation

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • BS or MS with degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or related discipline with 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of protein purification techniques (Chromatography, tangential flow filtration).
  • Hands on experience with AKTA chromatography equipment (Avant and Pilot) and tangential flow filtration systems desired but not essential.
  • Ability to design, implement and interpret experiments.
