Culligan of Pittsburgh is looking for a Route Manager with a proven track record of strong leadership and success in developing teams and individuals. Our next Route Manager will lead by example in a hands-on environment to strengthen a motivated and competent workforce, ensure customer satisfaction and retention, and assist in achieving company goals. The Route Manager leads our Route team personnel and associated residential, commercial, and industrial service functions to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. You will have the opportunity to develop and lead a team of motivated Route Drivers through coaching and training of technical skills and customer service.  


This is a hands-on management position. The Route Manager will provide leadership through effective communication, process improvement, coaching/training and mentoring in a fast-paced, high volume environment. This position reports to the Area Manager.

What is the Route Manager responsible for?

  • Collaborating with Sales and Customer Service personnel to take appropriate, urgent action to satisfy customer

  • Resolving service-related problems, approving billing adjustments as necessary

  • Maintaining adequate inventory to meet customer need

  • Assessing equipment to maintain quality, assisting in modification when needed

  • Perform duties of route delivery, service/install and plant personnel when necessary

  • Ensure adequate after-hour response to customer emergencies

  • Maintaining appropriate staffing level, workload distribution, and employee skills necessary to best serve customers and meet business needs

  • Upholding a safe, clean work environment that is in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and company regulations

  • Providing sufficient training to ensure employees have the skills and information necessary to exceed customers expectations

  • Developing realistic employee performance objectives tied to the dealerships goals in order to support employee development and empowerment

  • Maintaining the companys assets (plant, fleet, equipment, and other inventory)

  • Achieving planned gross margin and revenue targets

  • Seek additional opportunities for sales

  • Maintain a positive Culligan image

  • Participating in the preparation of annual budget/plans, regularly review actual performance vs. plan, analyze variances, and take action necessary to achieve goals

  • Reviewing and controlling delivery, service and plant expenses

  • Ensure compliance with company policies

  • Keep knowledge and skills current.  Pursue WQA CWS-I certification

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing and electronics

  • 3+ years supervisory experience, including training responsibilities

  • High level of self-motivation and enthusiasm

  • Ability to handle repetitive weight of 165 lbs.

  • Valid drivers license and safe driving record

  • This is a local, in-office management role must be willing to live in or be willing to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA or the surrounding area

  • In a perfect world

    • Previous experience in the water conditioning industry
