Job Summary | We are looking for reliable, pleasant, energetic persons with an impeccable work ethic to assist with study related activities (i.e., intervention delivery) under the supervision of the study project coordinator and principal investigator. The position may require travel to deliver the intervention. Two nurses with expertise in cardiovascular care, especially heart failure patient care, will be hired as project interventionists. With oversight and training from the PI, they will deliver the FamLit intervention and attention-control interventions. To prevent contamination, one interventionist will be assigned to deliver the FamLit intervention to patients and care partners and one will be assigned to deliver the attention only intervention to patients and care partners in the attention control group. The interventionists will be trained separately in their assigned intervention. The study interventionist will deliver the FamLit intervention to patients and care partners in the intervention group (or attention only to patients and care partners in the equal attention control group) in the initial in-person session and phone booster sessions. The study staff will receive extensive training (and re-training) in delivering FamLit intervention/attention-only before implementing the study and communicate with the PI on a weekly basis regarding any issues encountered during the intervention sessions. A good working knowledge of the following software is mandatory: Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and REDCap is mandatory. A reliable vehicle is required. These persons must be able to work well and collaborate with others who hold a wide variety positions in various departments at the University of Kentucky. These persons who hold this position must be able to work autonomously, problem solve, and use critical thinking skills. This position will also learn the basics of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and standard operating procedures (SOP); collaborate and consult with other health professionals in study participation and to ensure protocol compliance; and other duties as assigned. The persons will communicate with the principal investigator and project coordinator regarding any issues encountered during intervention delivery (and other assigned study activities, if needed). Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to protect our university community including our students, staff, faculty and visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated. |
