JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Sr. Manager, Quality and Controls, the Quality and Controls Engineer I will work as a part of Reliance Technology Solutions (RTS) Quality and Controls (QC) group. The Quality and Controls Engineer I will plan, test and ensure QC standards on concurrent multiple IT projects with an emphasis on Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O and other ERP systems. Additionally, the Quality and Controls Engineer I will be responsible for test documentation, test execution and support QC standards with internal/external team members to deliver the highest quality IT products in a timely and cost-effective manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Quality and Controls (QC) – Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools of quality and controls used to ensure a product fulfills requirements and standards.

  • Adhere to and promote RTS' application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices
  • Support all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle with the guidance of QC Management/QC leads
  • Execute testing to support Quality and Control initiatives for Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O and other systems
  • Assure projects meet quality standards by documenting, reporting and escalating test and quality issues to QC leads for review and resolution.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of QC and business processes
  • Demonstrate a customer focus vision                                                    
  • Working with QC Engineers and Analysts to support testing by learning how our customers will use our applications and incorporate that use into test cases

QC Planning – Plans and documents a systematic approach to all aspects of testing.

  • Participate in reviews of business requirements and application design
  • With the guidance of QC Leads plans and executes Testing across a variety of software products including Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O:
    • Functional Testing
    • Regression Testing
    • Security Testing
    • Testing Automation
  • Complete assigned testing on time and within original Testing estimates
  • Support testing activities with the guidance of QC Leads as it relates to Software Development Life Cycle
  • Interpret and communicate test status to leadership and project team.
  • Assist on fulfilling proper test coverage based on requirements and design specifications
  • Create documented and effective test plans
  • Anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks, work with QC Leads to reprioritize testing objectives
  • Assist QC Leads and Analysts in recommendations and resolutions to roadblocks
  • Assist in implementing solutions to overcome roadblocks
  • Assist in implementing QC Process improvements and Test strategies

 

QC Design and Development – Designs and develops test cases, test environment and test data to ensure quality of solution.

  • Assist in creating and maintaining test and production environments
  • Analyze requirements and functional/ technical specifications to create test cases
  • Assist in development of in-house test tools
  • Maintain and protect the integrity of the test environment and test data
  • Assist in test environment(s) and test data reflects business requirements for test execution
  • Contribute to the Quality and Control status reports as it relates to test cycles and the overall work effort
  • Create test data for multiple and/or complex projects

QC Testing and Execution – Executes test cases and tracks test results and drives test issues to resolution.

  • Execute test cases, interprets and documents test results and generates status reports and metrics
  • Execute Test Cases and contribute to progress of all test activities against plan
  • Assist in assessing and measuring testing entrance and exit criteria
  • Develop test automation capabilities to support applications RTS quality control activities
  • Work with QC Leads to assess risk analysis at the testing level
  • Assist in defining and coordinating production verification and validation
  • Participate in production verification and validation.

 

QC Closure – Documents final status accomplishments, approvals and future test improvement areas.

  • Assist QC Leads in obtaining approvals from solution stakeholders
  • Assist in defining regression tests for future projects
  • Assist in creating and documenting reusable test processes

Quality & Controls Methodology and Tools – Develops quality controls methodology policies/procedures and tools to ensure efficiency in QC processes.

  • Contribute to implementing process improvements, focused on solution quality
  • Works with cross functional teams to adhere and implement QC standards, metrics and leading practices
  • Assist in interpreting testing and issue resolution between project and infrastructure teams
  • Coordinate and assist in code releases and deployments between environments (Development, Test, QA, Train, Production)
  • Assist in maintaining quality control tools (e.g. develop reports and change configuration)

SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pursue training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Assist personnel in other RTS departments to resolve technical and/or application issues
  • Support cross functional QC and Release Management activities and objectives
  • Support and perform backup release deployments
  • Train RTS resources on QC methodologies and tools

Requirements

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a related field required
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • 3+ years’ hands-on Quality and Control experience with focus on MS D365 F&O or MS Dynamics AX systems preferred
  • 2+ years’ advanced knowledge of testing methodologies and enforcing SDLC policies preferred
  • 2+ years’ advanced experience with Application Lifecycle Management ALM tools (e.g., HP ALM, MS Azure DevOps, JIRA, etc.) required
  • Advanced experience with generating, communicating and interpreting test results and test status reports required
  • Advanced experience with D365 F&O, AX and/other ERP systems preferred
  • Advanced experience with development of advanced complexity SQL scripts required
  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server and/or other RDBMS architectures required
  • Basic understanding of source code management, reporting, requirements management, automated builds, testing and release management preferred
  • Elementary .NET or other object oriented programming skills highly preferred
  • Experience with interacting and supporting infrastructure related activities (e.g., connectivity support) preferred
  • Experience with collaborating and troubleshooting cross-team issues (e.g., Citrix, networking, etc.) preferred
  • Elementary experience with Testing Automation Frameworks and Automation Scripting preferred
  • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills required
  • Ability to self-direct and work effectively with both functional and technical resources required
  • Outstanding ability to analyze test results and generate comprehensive test summary reports and metrics required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Ability to multitask on two or more concurrent projects required
  • Strong time management skills with a history of meeting commitments required
