Job Summary
The City of Salem is hiring for an Asphalt Maintenance Supervisor. We are looking for a knowledgeable and skilled candidate who can supervise the day to day operations of the street maintenance crews. Do you have a solid understanding of road and pavement maintenance? Do you have the ability to lead a diverse group of individuals? As the Asphalt Maintenance Supervisor, you will be directly responsible for the supervision and oversight of the road maintenance programs, including asphalt mill and inlays, overlays, alley maintenance, trench patch, and shoulder maintenance programs. Part of your duties will include outlining traffic control plans, performing quality control checks, developing scope of work plans for your teams, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. You will be actively involved in coordinating workflow with the public, and both internal and external work groups. You will also be an integral part of our Snow and Ice operations during winter events, responsible for directing response for the crews on your shift

What are the minimum qualifications?
  • Must pass the pre-employment background check.
  • May be required to pass a drug test (including marijuana).
  • Must have an Oregon driver license and a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field to program assignment (i.e., business management, engineering, etc.), and four years of supervisory experience in the pavement field, or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess, have experience in, or the ability to quickly learn the following:
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Pavement Management Systems
  • Database Maintenance
  • Microsoft Office
