Role Summary:The Project Director is responsible for the overall project execution and delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources. Leads a cross functional team. PD ensures compliance with business directives and EHS standards. The role is accountable for the successful execution of Gas Power projects including those full scope Turnkey or and with partners.

Essential Responsibilities:

-Manages and drives large and/or complex power plant projects through all phases of design, procurement and construction.

-Has primary responsibility for defining, planning, controlling and managing the enterprise project, for identifying key resources with the line management and providing the direction they require to meet project objectives.

-Works with the Sales/Commercial (ITO phase) team and the Regional Projects Leader for the allocated project to develop and finalize the project execution strategy

-Participate in risk reviews during ITO phase

-Supports ITO conduct internal handover meeting (ITO to OTR), as per handover procedure(s)

-Ensure timely appointments of key project team members

-Manage the allocated project to achieve the project goals and objectives

-Anticipate business cycle growth and impact on the projects portfolio while aligning and managing resources for continued success.

-Manage and lead the whole project team to achieve and further improve the cost, schedule, quality and EHS targets

-Own, maintain and revise the project execution strategy establish, implement and maintain operating standards to ensure quality project results and customer satisfaction

-Ensure project compliance to GE Spirit & Letter, GPS Golden Rules, local regulations and EHS requirements

-Responsible for proper risk and opportunity management

-Analyze risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigation action. Work closely with his/her direct reports (as per OTR project team organization) project team members in tracking and reporting on progress to plan, cost and schedule reporting, and change management

-Develop and maintain corresponding relationships with customer, partners and main subcontractors to ensure smooth operation of projects and smooth dispute resolution

-Manage customers and partners and actively develop the required relationship to assure business credibility.

Work collaboratively inside and outside GE, to identify and leverage best practices from other businesses, acquisitions, partners and customers.

-Ensure rigorous project review rhythm and achievement of key project milestones

-Resolve issues related to customer relations, partner relations and/or main sub-contractors relations, governmental relations, project quality, project risk and project safety

-Influence selection of team members with responsible line function

-Gain commitment on the performance of activities with team members and their managers

-Manage and communicate clear projects objectives, and motivate the project team to achieve them; create a project environment that enables peak performance by team members

-Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables; mentor others in project management practices; review quality of work and manages team members work

-Has authority to sign correspondence and documents with third parties according to power of attorney

-Resolve any issues including lack of adherence to contracts, project quality or timeline issues

-Responsible for proper hand over from OTR Project Team to Power Services


+ Degree in Engineering from a local or internationally recognized university

+ At least 10 years experience in leading the execution of complex infrastructure projects in challenging environment or project management function in EPC power plant Industry

Desired Characteristics:

+ Extensive experience in negotiation of complex contracts and sound commercial understanding of project feasibilities, market differentiators and the power business generally

+ Experience in managing large EPC projects within Power, Oil & Gas and/or mining in multicultural environment

+ Experience of Health and Safety leadership in challenging project environments

+ Excellent communication skills when managing medium to large teams as well as engaging with senior management

+ Ability to work in a matrix organization

+ Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

+ Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
