About the position:

JFF is positioned at the center of the Future of Work and economic advancement for all. To drive our mission, we are seeking someone to play a key role supporting JFF's Learning Unit to increase our capacity to meet our ambitious goals. We are fundamentally transforming our nations learners and learning systems so that:

  1. Traditional secondary and postsecondary institutions are modernized, learner centered, and operating at scale.
  2. Learning is both rigorous and recognized wherever it takes placein the classroom, the community, and the workplace.
  3. Resources for learning are ample and equitably distributedacross populations and life stages.
  4. Entirely new tools and ways of learning are designed, tested, and adopted at scale.

As a JFF Program Manager, you support the Learning Units programs by bringing capacity building knowledge, data-driven insights, strong communications skills, and relationship management experience. To achieve our work collaboratively, you will balance internal program capacity and strategic focus. You have internal and external responsibilities, ranging from vendor and program management to supporting implementation of innovative ideas for the growth of this unit. A couple examples of the types of programs the team engages in includes Boosting Opportunities for Social and Economic Mobility for Families (BOOST) and the Student Success Center Network.

What you'll do:

Program Management

  • Provide general project support to the project teams including scheduling meetings, distributing meeting agendas, materials, notes and minutes
  • Partner with project leaders to monitor and evaluate project plans, tasks, resources, deadlines, and any post-project needs to accomplish project goals

Management of People and Relationships

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with project partners throughout the process and to support ongoing collaboration
  • Ensure timely follow-up with partners, coordinating with and drawing in appropriate staff as necessary
  • Participate in planning and facilitating meetings and events across the team


  • Prepares a variety of correspondence and documents such as memos, reports, presentations; takes notes and summarizes key points addressed at conferences, events and meetings
  • In conjunction with unit leadership, contribute to the development of concepts, strategies, practices, and procedures to enhance our work
  • Co-design and contribute to the team's emerging areas of work

Strategic and Analytical Thinking

  • Support successful delivery of programs by executing on research and analysis, and quality improvement as needed and engaging internal / external experts to ensure high impact strategies, structures, and inclusion of best knowledge available
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to identify and analyze best practices and learnings from the project

Who you are:

  • You have a minimum of 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in a nonprofit or education setting
  • You have strong project management and organizational skills; you can work quickly and independently, prioritize, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • You are highly skilled at managing up and anticipating the needs of others
  • You have exceptional organization skills and keen attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, the judgment to manage competing priorities, and an ability to track and drive forward varied, fluid workstreams
  • You can synthesize information and structure ideas clearly and concisely for multiple audiences
  • You are able and willing to travel up to 30%
  • You possess high energy and passion for JFFs mission; ability to apply JFFs core values to all areas of your work
  • You model inclusive leadership, working effectively with diverse staff, and building and stewarding an organizational culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • You contribute to positive, effective, collaborative cultures and teams wherever you work
