About the position:
The Program Manager will be a member of a dynamic JFF team working to fundamentally change existing systems and re-imagine new ways for people to access the knowledge, skills and educational credentials critical to launch, re-enter, or advance in careers and realize their best possible futures. The Program Manager will work in collaboration with JFF staff and external partners on projects that support state, regional, and local leadersrepresenting fields such as K-12 and postsecondary education, workforce development, state and local government, business and industry, and community-based organizationsto design, strengthen, and scale solutions that create equitable conditions and clear paths to economic advancement for all. Examples of some of the types of work our team engages in can found through exploring the impact stories for Pathways to Prosperity, Place-based Initiatives, and Opportunity Works.

The Program Manager reports directly to a senior leader on the team and works collaboratively with others across JFF to support our efforts to:

  • Improve the transitions between, and the alignment and integration of, high school, postsecondary education and training, and work
  • Ensure that education and workforce development systems and programs are easily navigable and have multiple on- and off-ramps that provide easy access to education and training over time
  • Break down structural and policy barriers that impede access to high-quality career-focused learning that leads to experiences and credentials with value in the labor market

What you'll do:
Strategic and Analytical Thinking

  • Support and participate in the design and delivery of technical assistance to partnersstate and local policymakers, school districts, community colleges, industry leaders, intermediaries, community-based organizations, and workforce and economic development professionalsto design and implement programs, systems, and policies that support economic advancement
  • Under direction of senior staff, conduct primary and secondary research to identify and analyze best practices at local, regional, and state levels in areas such as secondary and postsecondary alignment, education/training and workforce alignment, work-based learning, intermediary organizations and functions, and community-based organizations
  • Collect, compile, and evaluate data from various sources


  • Research and writing analytical and practice-oriented written products, including reports, tools, memos, and case studies
  • Assist with concept and proposal development by providing writing support and research
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations, talking points, and other materials for use in the field and during program-related events
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in public forums with colleagues regarding activities and outcomes of programs

Management of Relationships

  • Support and participate in planning and facilitating meetings of diverse stakeholders, including peer-learning meetings, technical assistance workshops, site visits to partners, and program/policy research meetings
  • Contribute actively to programs and initiatives across the team and JFF

Who you are:

  • You have 3 to 5 years of experience working with secondary or postsecondary educational institutions or agencies, workforce or economic development, corrections or juvenile justice, community-based organizations, or other relevant fields
  • You have strong project management and organizational skills; you can work quickly and independently, prioritize, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • You have strong writing and editing skills; you can communicate ideas clearly and concisely for multiple audiences
  • You are able and willing to travel up to 30%
  • You possess high energy and passion for JFFs mission; ability to apply JFFs core values to all areas of your work
