JOB SUMMARY

Plan and create production based on orders pending against current inventory.  Coordinate the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Duties include creating, reviewing and distributing production. Compiling and posting production schedules. Conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates. Compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes, in order to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to materials requirements, and material priorities.
  • Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, and production.
  • Confer with company personnel to coordinate production and shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Calculate and update figures such as required amounts of labor and materials and manufacturing costs, using pricing schedules, adding machines, calculators, or computers.
  • Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments.
  • Use the best utilization of material by laying out orders in the most efficient manner and combining when possible.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.  

Requirements

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of production planning experience in manufacturing, distribution or like industry required.
  • High School diploma/GED required, Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Broad understanding of concepts and principles pertinent to raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing and distribution of material required.
  • Broad understanding of company product(s) and their uses preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication and math skills required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
  • Efficient, well organized and detail oriented with a proven track record of problem-solving required

  • The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations) required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal/external customers required. 
  • Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications and ERP systems required.

Work Conditions

Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
