The Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) is a Seattle-based non-profit research organization committed to developing products to prevent, detect and treat infectious diseases. We are seeking a motivated Process Development Associate to join our Formulations team! The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory and performing stability characterization of IDRI’s (R&D) manufactured formulations for use in the development of vaccines against infectious diseases. The incumbent will also assist in the fulfillment/shipping of internal and external formulation requests, maintain and facilitate annual performance maintenance of lab instruments, and assist with daily lab maintenance activities. Additional responsibilities will include the occasional antigen-adjuvant compatibility study, which will conclude with a detailed technical report. Must be able to multitask, be highly organized and have great attention to detail. Ensure that all job responsibilities are performed and documented accurately and timely. Additionally, a strong interest in programming and database development is highly desirable.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform characterization of stability samples by HPLC, UV spectrophotometry, zetapotential, particle sizing, and pH
  • Perform antigen-adjuvant compatibility studies using various characterization techniques
  • Maintain physical inventory, stability task list and database of all formulations
  • Demonstrate ability for critical thinking, multitasking, meticulous attention to detail and maintaining a highly organized work schedule
  • Be able to build and maintain a good, dependable and trustworthy working relationship with teammates within the immediate group and liaison between departments and external collaborators
  • Generate protocols, reports and maintain a detailed lab notebook
  • Assist with daily lab maintenance activities, such as restocking general use lab supplies

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • A BS/BA, or equivalent, preferably with a focus in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering or other related scientific discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and file management

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge and hands on experience with following techniques is preferred: HPLC, UV-spectrophotometry, zetapotential, particle sizing (DLS), osmolality, pH
  • 1-2 years of experience in a scientific laboratory
