Role Summary:

Global Digital Platform Engineering team continues to embed deep domain expertise and latest and greatest in platform engineering (cloud, big data, AI/ML, IIOT) across our systems. We are building one of worlds most comprehensive IIOT digital platform with reusable, repeatable and adaptable models with learning capability that will enable faster time to value and optimized cost of ownership for software applications.

Essential Responsibilities:

This role provides the candidate with the opportunity to play a part in the continued digital maturation of the GE digital business and to both witness and influence the continued symbiosis between the organization's business/product development and technology strategies. In particular, this role will enable the candidate to build scalable product architecture for cloud, big data, IIOT, AI/ML and advanced analytics based digital offerings such as asset performance management, operations performance management, digital worker etc.

This position will lead, consults or oversees multiple enginering engagements. Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge within IIOT, edge computing: technical, solutions, business or information.





In this role, you will:





+ Provide strategic and tactical direction in the areas of data management, analytics, IIOT, cloud and visualization across our entire internal operations



+ Lead and coordinate the technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction across multiple teams or complex product line



+ Produce and validate reference architecture implementations, labs, and presentations to evangelize design patterns and best practices for digital platform engineering.



+ Lead the technology evolution of the digital Platform, including data, analytics, cloud and tools



+ Work with key stakeholders in multiple engineering groups to drive near and long term engineering decisions



+ Analyze, design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.



+ Review development of software platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.



+ Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities for multiple teams or complex scenarios.



+ Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain. Share technical, procedural, and business knowledge with others. Leverage edge computing expertise; you are expected to further the knowledge and improve productivity of your colleagues with activities such as creating learning content, giving presentations, and supporting a continuous learning culture.



+ Guide and inspire the teams leveraging best practices, and evangelize strategic use of data throughout the business



+ Influence cross-organizational leaders that can drive success for the individual engineering teams

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualification:



+ High School diploma.



+ A minimum 16 years of professional experience.





Eligibility Requirements



+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.



+ Must be willing to work out of office located in at San Ramon, CA or remote.



+ Must be willing to travel ~10%

Desired Characteristics:

Technical Expertise



+ 5+ years of experience in design/implementation experience of cloud, big data, AI/ML, IIOT



+ Experience working with RESTful API and service oriented architecture



+ Expertise with cloud principles such as continuous delivery, systems reliability, and security



+ An understanding of agile development practices and common tools, such as Github, Jira, etc.



+ Participates in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development



+ Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architectural requirements at domain level, aligning architectural requirements with software development strategy.



+ Hands-on experience with cloud, big data, AI, ML, IIOT technologies

+ Recommends allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/mission success. Develops the business case for approval.



+ Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout their domain. Define the sills, competencies in the skills and talents for architecture team members.



+ Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives and trigger recommendations for substantial innovative / enhancements, and analysis of consequences.



+ Influences through others. Uses experts or other third parties to influence. Builds direct and behind the scenes support for ideas, uses chains of indirect influence.
