Molecular cloning and production of viral vectors

The candidate should have demonstrated excellent
communication and technical writing skills and a
willingness to work in a research team.

8am 5pm with occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Summary

The nanomedicine laboratory in the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering at the the University of Kentucky invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the areas of genome editing and cancer immunotherapy (NIH-funded, R01EB026893). Our lab is interested in interdisciplinary and translational research that includes developing synthetic and biological nanomaterials, studing the nano-bio interface at the cell and molecular levels, and applying nanotechnology in cancer immunotherapy. A particular interest of the lab is to develop a nano-viral hybrid delivery system for CRISPR/Cas9-based in vivo genome editing, and utilizes this system for cancer immune checkpoint blockade.

The successful candidate will also be encouraged to work with the PI and graduate students to pursue multiple research projects of interest to build a successful research career. Additional responsibilities will include general lab management and graduate student mentoring.

The position starts in January 2020. The appointment will be full-time for a 12-month period. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent upon performance.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Skills required for performing the research include:
Molecular cloning and production of viral vectors
Small animal handling and mouse tumor models
Standard cell/molecular biology techniques including but not
limited to fluorescence microscopy, flowcytometry, western
blotting, ELISA, PCR, RT-PCR, genetic sequencing techniques
Record keeping and data analysis
Excellent communication and technical writing in English.
