Job Summary

The Department of Toxicology & Cancer Biology is searching for Postdoctoral Scholar who can function independently, with minimum input from the PI. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work on at least two projects: 1) Role of mitochondrial transfer in cancer aggression/resistance and 2) Role of ROS in radiation resistant cancer development. The candidate will design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and, in some cases, design new protocols; summarize research results or presentations and grant applications, and write manuscripts for publication.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Perform and collect data from in vitro as well as in vivo experiments.
• Maintain an organized and a complete lab notebook and computer database of research data.
• Use word processing, graphic design, and statistical analysis software to summarize the data for presentations at UK and research conferences and publications in research journals.
• Attend laboratory meetings and departmental research seminars.
• Operate specialized scientific equipment.
• Train students and other lab members as needed.
• Troubleshoot experimental results.
• Analyze and summarize data for grant application and publication

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Excellent technical expertise in Molecular Biology and Cell Biology; Ability to work in a collegial and cooperative manner with the faculty supervisor and other co-workers; Written and oral communications skills; Knowledge and experience with computer programs including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical analysis software.

Preferred Education/Experience

Ph.D. degree with strong background in cell biology/molecular biology and cancer biology. Experiences in studies of free radical biology are preferred but not required.
