Job Summary | A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately for a motivated, ambitious, and talented scientist to study the mechanisms of aortic aneurysms in the laboratory of Dr. Venkateswaran Subramanian in the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. Our laboratory mainly focuses on the mechanisms involved in the development of abdominal aortic aneurysms. We are seeking outstanding scientists with Ph.D., M.D., DVM., or equivalent degrees. The ideal candidate will have research experience in the field of cardiovascular disease events such as aortic aneurysms and atherosclerosis, but outstanding candidates with experience in other areas will be considered. Responsibilities of the position include working with Dr. Venkateswaran Subramanian, Ph.D to conduct NIH-sponsored research on mechanisms of abdominal aortic aneurysms and related outcomes, to include designing and conducting experimental studies within an interdisciplinary team; and organizing, analyzing, and presenting experimental data. Experience with cell culture, biochemical and molecular biology, immunohistochemistry techniques, and strong background in small animal model systems are desirable. All applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will be highly independent and be able to work collaboratively to advance their projects. The candidate must be able to pursue intellectually and technically complex projects through to completion. The appointee will be given autonomy to grow as an independent scientist while working as part of the team to accelerate the research objectives of the lab as well as opportunities for career development. Salary Range: Minimum of $47,476 per year or commensurate with experience Low cost of living and good school district in Lexington, KY is an added advantage.
