POSITION TITLE: Peer & Family Support Program (PFSP) Program Coordinator

Organization and Position Summary:

Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by advancing innovative research and improving quality of life for individuals and families impacted by paralysis.

 

Today, we seek a full-time Program Coordinator who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of peer program clients and peer mentors and matching the client with an appropriate mentor. The position manages the mentoring relationships across the program.   It is responsible for the reporting of peer mentor and client statistics and assisting in the overall growth of the program through working with partners and other organizations.

Additionally, this individual will be responsible for performing job duties, interacting with community and coworkers and managing self in a manner consistent with, and in support of, the organization’s mission and core values.  

 

Consideration will be given to remote candidates.

Job Responsibilities:

People

F  Manage all referrals and matches of clients to peer mentors (PMs).

F  Maintain the highest level of peer mentor utilization as possible. Monitor the PM pool, report issues, and identify ways to meet needs

F  Provide help to peers who need help with a specific situation

F  Assist the PFSP Director with identifying and recruiting peers, PMs, and partners

 

Events/Functions/Production

F  Interface and collaborate with Communication Department to actively support the PFSP’s private Facebook group and Reeve Foundation online community efforts by participating with postings, writing blogs and commenting on posts, when appropriate. Identify and develop stories about the impact of mentoring on peers and mentors to be used for spotlight stories, board requests, etc.

F  Document all interactions with peers and PMs in custom database. Ensure all PM reporting requirements are met and ensure PMs complete their encounter reporting within specific time frames.

F  Perform certification training of peer mentor candidates. Ensure that all PMs are trained on custom database and offer refresher trainings as needed.

 

Data

F  Follow call and email communication protocol for record management including follow-up and closing process.

F  Keep accurate data on any statistics that are captured outside of the custom database. Ensure stats and reports are updated monthly and available for dissemination.  

Other

F  Work with the Information Specialist (IS) team members on clients of both programs who need assistance. Ensure that any client that comes through to PFSP first is evaluated to see if they also need IS assistance.

 

Additionally, this individual will perform periodic accountabilities such as:

F  Exhibiting at relevant expos, conferences and local community events

F  Participating in internal grant reviews as needed

F  Participate in special projects as assigned

 

Job Qualifications:

 

Education:

F  Two-year college degree required.

F  Four-year college degree preferred.

 

 

Experience or Job Knowledge:

F  1-3 years’ experience in a peer program or customer service preferred

F  Understands and has an interest in people living with paralysis, their families and caregivers

F  Understand the everyday challenges of the disabled community

Language Skills:

F  Ability to speak and present effectively and in an engaging manner in front of groups of people

F  Excellent English verbal, written and communication skills

Computer/Technical:

F  Intermediate level MS Office Suite Skills

F  Basic knowledge of Social Media sites/platforms

F  Ability to learn custom client database

 

Behavioral Attributes:

F  Candidates should possess strong organization and prioritization skills and be detail oriented.

F  Listening skills and empathy with the ability to connect with people quickly and establish rapport.

F  Ability to build partnerships, internally and in the larger community, is desired.

 

Physical Demands/Office Environment:

F  Typical Office Environment

 

Travel:

F  Occasional travel to expos or exhibits

F  Travel 3-4 times per year by plane and car with some overnight stays.
