Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlantas urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlantas tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area, and has grown to become one of Atlantas most widely known and supported non-profit organizations.


 


Trees Atlanta is looking for a Plant Healthcare Coordinator to join our community forestry team called NeighborWoods. Started in 2001, the NeighborWoods program brings volunteers and neighborhood representatives together with our staff to plant and maintain trees throughout Metro Atlanta. The NeighborWoods Plant Healthcare Coordinator will be responsible for the quality control of the programs maintenance and pruning activities. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, well-organized, and enthusiastic, with a desire to work with diverse communities and volunteers.



 


You will have the opportunity to:



  • Prune high priority trees for structural integrity, visibility, and aesthetics as appropriate.

  • Ensure the health and viability of the tree inventory through regular maintenance (staking, weeding, mulching, pruning, and pest control).

  • Advocate for a healthy urban forest  through organizing weekday and/or weekend neighborhood tree pruning, maintenance, and planting volunteer projects that encourage teamwork and resident buy-in. 

  • Grow the certified pruning volunteer program in collaboration with the Education and Volunteer Services teams.

  • Activate and educate the community by teaching pruning classes (up to 20 students)

  • Illustrate the success of the mission through keeping accurate tree inventory records and routine stakeholder reports

  • Complete other duties as assigned.



What You Need:




  •  At least three years of related work experience

  • ISA Arborist Certification, or the ability to gain certification within six months of hire

  • Knowledge of ANSI A300 pruning standards

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, public speaking ability, and the desire to work with diverse communities and individuals

  • Excellent organizational skills, drive, and attention to detail, with proven ability to work independently and with a team

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Suite, and ArcGIS; familiarity with Salesforce preferred



Physical Requirements




  • Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday, with occasional schedule flexibility to work on an evening

  • At least 21 years old with a 3-year clear driving history

  • Ability to conduct repetitive, moderate to strenuous physical activity in the field and lift up to 50 pounds

  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions at all times of year
