Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
Shift is primarily days 8:00am – 4:30pm with weekend support based on departmental needs.
Job Summary
UK HealthCare is seeking a highly-motivated pharmacist for a clinical pharmacist position with a hematology/oncology patient access focus at UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky to work in the Markey Access and Innovation Center (MAIC). The clinical pharmacist will provide financial care to patients seen in the outpatient malignant hematology and the medical oncology clinics and is integral to the Markey Cancer Center team. The position will focus on patient access to high cost medications billed to medical insurance and administered in our cancer clinics and infusion centers. This will entail submitting prior authorizations to payers, enrolling patients in manufacturer assistance (copay cards or patient assistance programs), P&T formulary management of biosimilars, oncology pathway management, and clinical support to MAIC patient care specialist team members. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an ACPE-accredited school/college of pharmacy, completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency (or equivalent experience) at a minimum and must be eligible for licensure in Kentucky. Board certification in oncology pharmacy (or board eligibility) is preferred. In addition, a faculty appointment at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy may be considered based on credentials and experience.

The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD degree preferred. ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
