GENERAL SUMMARY

The NKF Patient Network platform is the first online patient registry that will advance both patient education and clinical research in kidney disease. This position is responsible for leading the implementation of patient engagement solutions that will promote the interaction of patients with the platform. They will manage all patient-facing resources and features offered by the registry, including the patient portal, patient educational materials, newsletter, and other patient communication.

The NKF Patient Network Engagement Director is an important member of the team(s), working collaboratively with the scientific activities, marketing and communications, education, and IT departments. They foster an interactive community of patients with kidney disease who feel empowered, are educated about their disease, and are engaged with their health, healthcare, and research.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Manages all enhancements to the registry platform to increase patient engagement, including updates to the patient dashboard and expansion of the educational content. Leads a gamification strategy of the platform to motivate consistent participation and long-term stickiness.
  • Aligns patient engagement strategies with the registry technology, digital marketing, website strategies, and future activities that will enhance the patient experience with the platform. Ensures that interdepartmental teams are informed of the workplan and are on track.
  • Periodically analyzes interaction metrics of patient participation with the platform and its resources, and proactively coordinates solutions to improve them.
  • Manages the editorial calendar and content of the NKF Patient Network's quarterly newsletter, annual report, and other patient communication directed to the registry's participants.
  • Develops and assures a continuity of clear written and verbal communication with the Patient Advisory Working Group. Participates to the governance committees bi-annual calls and advise on strategies to improve patient participation in the governance structure.
  • Collaborates with NKF's leads and volunteers on the selection and implementation of solutions for the engagement of minorities and underrepresented groups within the registry population.
  • Collaborates with NKF's leads on the development of methods to manage patient surveys and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) administered to the registry's participants.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • College graduate with experience in patient education, patient engagement, and communications. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in project management.
  • Previous experience working in a non-profit or health care setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • General understanding of new technology in healthcare.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and patients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with deadlines and time pressures and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and strong attention to details.
  • Flexible for overnight business domestic and international travel including weekends and weekdays.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.

WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION

Must have unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness while possessing a high degree of tact, discretion, and professionalism. Maintains effectiveness under pressure. Verbal and written communication skills will be used on a daily basis. Competency in use of a multiple-line telephone, personal computer, fax machine, photocopier and other standard office equipment. Ability to lift and transport event supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 lb. This position requires weekend/evening work and business trips annually (Estimate 3-4 trips per year). Must be flexible for overtime.
