Physical Requirements | The physical requirements of this position include: occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 10lbs-25lbs; regularly sitting at a computer workstations for extended periods of time with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasional (<10 of the time) job-related travel. |
Shift | Primarily days, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, but will also include evenings, nights, and weekends per departmental needs. |
Job Summary | The Patient Access Manager for insurance verification & pre-authorizations will be responsible for directing the daily operations for the authorization staff by providing workflow management, assessing organizational Structure, process and tools, and work productivity and standards. This position will establish goals and objectives for the authorization staff; serve as the primary communication liaison for clinical department leadership; and promote Patient Access initiatives. The Patient Access Manager will also manage staffing needs by interviewing and selecting best-fit candidates; completing time-keeping functions; leading through appropriate training, coaching, and corrective action; and serving as the next level of escalation for authorization team supervisors and other departmental contacts. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | The ideal candidate will possess experience with pre-registration, pre-authorization activities and insurance verification programs; have the ability to lead and direct others toward goal setting and attainment, taking into account divergent demands while managing scope and timelines; be well organized; have exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); enjoy working independently as well as closely with their co-workers in a supportive team environment; outstanding computer skills (to include Microsoft Office); above average customer service skills; strong ability to engage and motivate others; active listening skills; and a thorough understanding of resource and employee management. |

Preferred Education/Experience | Bachelor’s degree and 5-6 years of healthcare experience, preferred. Experience with pre-registration activities & insurance verification programs highly preferred. |
